“I Looked At Dale Dye”

(October 12, 2019)

I looked at Dale Dye*

His sorry snuffy ass drags

OoohRah! Devil Dog!

*(A peon Marine Combat Correspondent who took The Purple and became after the manner of his mentor Mawk (Mordicai) Arnold and Marine Captain and later ran through raindrops in Hollyweird and found time to write novels, arm movie armies, appear in several army- and Marine Corps-themed movies, make The Pacific, and maybe was the tall, gaunt guy that December of 1970 at Camp Pendleton’s Combat Correspondents Orientation Course who reveled one night with others in the ear- and sight-shot of several of us already well-partied after hours at the old brig on base, the public affairs/formerly Informational Services office and hovel before being shipped off to The Land of The Burning Shitter. If you must know: that lower-case “army” reference is stylistically correct. Marine, Marine Corps, Marines, etc. always is capitalized. And I know why. The photo of Capt. Dale Dye (USMC Ret) was taken at the 2019 USMC Combat Correspondents Association annual gathering, this time held in Orlando, Florida.)
