Of Shooting Sunbeams

Enjoy the poem, read the Pantoum explanation, the lady not just an entertaining poet but a taut teacher as well. Thanks, Yassy.

I watch sunbeams dance on a turquoise sea
Alabaster clouds swirl round the golden sun
The sunlight warms and invigorates me
Watching tasseled shadows is so much fun.

Alabaster clouds swirl round the golden sun
Melting azure waves stretch out on the shore
Meandering warm sands, naked toes burn
On varnished sea shells, tales of ocean lore.

Melting azure waves stretch out on the shore
Lavender skies arch over beaming waves
On zephyr's back sunning themselves birds soar
In sun-lit sparkling seas fishes play.

Lavender skies arch over beaming waves
The sunlight warms and invigorates me
In sun-lit sparkling seas fishes play
I watch sunbeams dance on a turquoise sea.

#Pantoum
The pantoum is a poetic form derived from the pantun, a Malay form:specifically from the pantun berkait, a series of interwoven quartains.

If I can escape the trad-itional sister-in-law’s lust to hurl me into Arlington National, I’d rather feed bears and otters along The Wekiva River…failing that, be a standup-guy at that Tennessee cadaver-yard where scientists and other investigators study decomposition (after the useful organs get a once-over).

A Lone Fisherman

yaskhan

The ozone murmurs

In the silvery gloaming

As a fish quietly leaps

The quivering waves of

A dappled twilight moana

Its breath drawn upon

An opalescent August sky

Whispering shadows etch

Fragile moments

Bringing song of the sea

Filling piscator’s net

With briny scents;

Crepescule colors flicker

Yellowing the marine

Across windswept Neptune

The rising tide

Pulses a refrain ..

“Radio Time-Out” Tanka 2486

rality dosed

me right good just about now

four-hands off the clock

so i’ll be late yet again

waiting for newton snookers*

*(It’s AM-840 WPGS Mims-Titusville’s Cool Ed morning show’s fault. They have a schedule would have loved when I did The Titusville Star-Advocate in the 70s and 80s…yet even then I rarely repeated a column or a photograph from the day, week or month – or, bless me! – year before! Unless it was absolutely necessary…and then only if I wrote it backwards and put in the pictures upside-down!)

*(To the young lady I heard on the radio tolling off the terrible times to come because we (and I!) had not heeded her teachers and mentors’ warnings of what was to come from ignoring man-made global warming. Just so like a parrot she preached the new-found cant like a cracker awaiting its polly.)
