  1. Mom used to say “don’t fight. But if you do – it’d better be with a brother. And if you break him you gotta do all his chores and do the newspaper delivery routes he has until he’s fixed. One reason I mowed yards for my money and not delivered newspapers as did my younger and older brothers. Generally, the unbroke me ’cause they hated yard-mowing. I didn’t mind throwing rolled-up-hard-as-nails newspapers…kept one that way for dogs who were not interested in my wheels but my ankles…the readers got the less-tight versions and I learned this lesson from my older brother Glenn: if the customer had a pretty daughter get off your bicycle and walk the paper up to the porch and drop it half-loudly every day for a week or so.
