“And Isaac As-im-off”

(September 15, 2018)

Asimov punned

his name into a healthy

limerick so well*

(Bio-Chemist Professor and Science Fiction guru Isaac Asimov displayed a Bronx appetite for lusty japes with words whenever he could so afford – long after, I suspect, he had become too much an icon either in Boston Academia or at the halls of SF Publishing Houses. I forget the jest which led to the denouement “And no sooner said than Isaac Has-Em-Off” and will leave the subject of said last pun-ished line to the imagination of the reader…I seem to recall the limerick was addressed in one of The Master’s non-fiction books, probably about the fascinations found with numbers and suchlike.  Happy looking.)
