    • A little granulated sugar on the sliced berries to glop into a fine mastication prior to the shortcake…the last time I had to use shortbread cookies (biscuits?) since I had not the requisite soda-risen cakes which so beautifully soak up the sugar-induced syrup-juices. And I keep forgetting to step outside and pluck a few springs of either spear- pepper or whoknowswhatkind mint. Sour cream vice whipped cream. I know I scoff at most dietary dictates, but when I score some good double-cream it’s more likely to go into something other than almost-threatened butter.
