“A Salad To Fight For” Tanka

Now, I fight pests

who prey upon big-shouldered

ruby tomatoes:

Thick-walled bell peppers awiat

onions, Swiss chards and young kales!*

  • (Garlic leaves, squash blossoms, tender “stinking-rose” chive blossoms and leaves, booming basil leaves, bronze and Florence fennel fronds, parsley and miraculous baby radish leaves – and perhaps a reluctant Kirby cucumber to join the “usual suspects” store lettuces.  A tangerine-n-orange juice and grated peel-themed vinaigrette dressing with toasted baguette chunks rubbed with garlic and a slice or six of sweet onion, green onion and shallot just because.)
