“Takes ‘All Kinds’ To Collect Kids”

All kinds Collect kids

on this School-Day street: And just

too many* need help!

  • (The Collectors, not ‘The Kids’ who, by-and-large, are friendlier, more respectful of not just each other but of the neighbors’ yards they do not trample in search of shortcuts and such, but also a few shy smiles and even a wave or three as they pass.  One day, however, a hurried parent or harried bus driver will go just a smidge too far and that hated meat-wagon siren will wail as an engrossed seventh-, eighth- or ninth-grader darts between parked cars and too late for both kid and slightly speeding car, I again will flash back to how metal-meets-flesh sounds, sees and smells.)
